Ducktown was like sex; Sometimes it was funny. Sometimes it was grotesque. Sometimes I was embarrassed I enjoyed it. And like intercourse, it ended way too soon. Was it good for you?

Josh Divine's TRASHOLA #2 (Trashola Comics; $3.50) is a throwback to underground comics, and it rocks. It's a host of apparently semi-autobiographical stories of youthful angst told unsentimentally yet with great affection. Cheap, vulgar, with spot-on dialogue and effective art, and I dug it.

I wanted to let you know that I thouroghly enjoyed Ducktown. It was sick and twisted and demented and consistently funny. Not just half smile kind of funny, but laugh out loud funny. I am really going to miss it.

Your comic was one of the only stand-outs in the pile self-published comics I brought back from the convention.

If anybody out there is keeping a mental list of comics that are genuinely funny, well add TRASHOLA to it. The comic looks great, and did I mention that he's funny? Really, this was exactly what I needed after a crappy day of work. Just send him $3 already. You can say you were the first on your block to read it...

[Josh] has a fantastic retro style inspired by classic comics and cartoons, and a sick sense of humour. His economy, his ability to give so much information with the minimum of elegant lines, is a source of great wonder and envy for me! He combines the cute and the disturbing with flair and humour.

Josh Divine is a jem[sic] in a dumpster a phenomenal artist with quite unique humor. I will miss Ducktown like my liver misses whiskey.

Man, that "Pinewood" story in #2 is the funniest thing I've read in a while. Your stuff reminds me of that crazy Steve Weissman.

Josh, it was a trip. One of the funniest and most original strips I've read in a long time. Take another turn at bat real soon -- you're too talented to stay away from the game.

Customer reports on Trashola have been great. People just love this book! And I dig it too.

Hey man,
I just read Trashola #2 and really liked it. Just thought I'd let you know, since I didn't pay for it, and there were plenty of things I actually bought at APE that kind of sucked. I saw on your website that after APE you hated comics. That's too bad, you're good at it! Later.
